A fresh and vibrant salsa that’s perfect for snack tables and taco nights.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped white onion
  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers (seeded for milder heat, or keep seeds for more heat)
  • 1-2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water (adjust for desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Roughly chop the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeños.
  2. Place the chopped vegetables, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and optional sugar in a blender.
  3. Blend until the salsa reaches your desired consistency, whether that’s chunky or smooth. Add water as needed to adjust thickness.
  4. Taste and adjust the salt or lime juice as necessary.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15-20 minutes to let the flavors meld before serving with tortilla chips.

Notes

For extra flavor, roast the tomatoes and jalapeños before blending. Adjust the jalapeños for your heat preference, and consider adding lime zest or diced mango for variations.
