Deliciously soft and chewy cookies combining pumpkin and chocolate flavors, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the pumpkin, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and optional orange zest if desired.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 17 to 19 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
  9. Allow cookies to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. For decoration, add extra chocolate chips for eyes and drizzle with glaze if desired.

Notes

Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for easier mixing. Don’t overmix the dough to keep the cookies tender. For extra flavor, try adding chopped nuts or dried cranberries.
