Quick and easy pita bread made without yeast, perfect for stuffing or serving with dips.

Ingredients

  • 350 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 ml hot water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. If you’re using garlic, add that now too. Gradually add the hot water and mix until it forms a dough. Knead it together for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  2. Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it out using a rolling pin until it’s about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place one pita in the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, or until small bubbles form. Flip it over and cook for another minute. Repeat this with the remaining dough.

Notes

Make sure your skillet is hot enough for the best puff. If a pita doesn’t puff, it’ll still taste great. Keep cooked pitas warm in a clean kitchen towel.
