Delicious and adorable mini hamburger buns, perfect for sliders and appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup lukewarm water (240 mL)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (440 g)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 large egg
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by stirring in the yeast and sugar to lukewarm water and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the yeast mixture, butter, and egg, and mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a kitchen towel for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the risen dough into 80 small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cover and let the buns rise for another 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), brush the tops of the buns with melted butter, and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the buns cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

To make ahead, refrigerate the dough overnight. Buns can be frozen after baking for later use.
