Delicious Halloween Cocoa Cookies with a rich dark cocoa flavor and sweet orange glaze, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup black cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Orange glaze (powdered sugar, orange juice)
  • Optional: black cocoa for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, black cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Flatten the balls slightly with your hand.
  8. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes or until the edges are firm.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. To make the orange glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little orange juice until you reach your desired consistency.
  11. Decorate the cookies as desired with the glaze or pipe jack-o-lantern faces.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
