A delicious and healthier twist on classic Chicken Parmesan, made in the air fryer for crispy, guilt-free goodness.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for spraying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  5. Place the coated chicken breasts in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Cook for about 10 minutes, then flip the chicken and cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is crispy and cooked through.
  7. Top each piece of chicken with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese, air frying for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your healthy twist on Chicken Parmesan!

Notes

For an extra kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure chicken breasts are not too thick for even cooking. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
