A delightful dessert mash-up of cinnamon buns and apple pie, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 tube of pre-made cinnamon roll dough
  • Flour (for rolling out the dough)
  • 4-5 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • A pinch of salt
  • A drizzle of cream cheese glaze (optional)
  • A scoop of vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Toss them in a bowl with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, lemon juice, and salt. Let sit for about 10 minutes.
  2. Roll out each cinnamon roll into a flat disc, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Lay the flattened cinnamon rolls in a pie pan, pressing them together to create the crust.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the cinnamon bun crust and spread it evenly.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the pie loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes.
  6. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze from the cinnamon roll package over the top while warm.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use fresh, crisp apples for the best texture and avoid overfilling the pie.
