Cheesy and smoky BBQ chicken mozzarella sticks that are perfect for game day or family gatherings. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 8–10 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper (to taste)
  • Oil for frying (or cooking spray for air frying)

Instructions

  1. Shred the chicken finely and toss it in BBQ sauce. Adjust the sauce to taste.
  2. Wrap a string cheese stick with the BBQ chicken mixture.
  3. Freeze the wrapped cheese sticks for about 20 minutes.
  4. Set up a dredging station with flour, beaten eggs, and panko mixed with seasonings.
  5. Dredge the frozen sticks in flour, then egg, and finally breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry in hot oil for 2–3 minutes until golden brown or air fry at 400°F for 8–10 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce for dipping.

Notes

Do not skip the freezing step to keep the sticks intact while cooking. Experiment with different BBQ sauces for varied flavor.
