A delicious homemade version of the famous Outback Steakhouse dish featuring juicy chicken, crispy bacon, melting cheese, and savory mushrooms, all drizzled with a sweet and tangy honey mustard sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup Colby Jack cheese, shredded
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Honey Mustard Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, garlic, and onion powder. Set half of it aside for dipping later.
  2. Prep the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden.
  3. Cook the Mushrooms: In the same pan, melt butter and cook the mushrooms until tender and golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Chicken: Place chicken in a baking dish, brush with honey mustard sauce, then top with mushrooms, bacon, and cheese.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a 375°F oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbling and chicken is cooked through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve with extra honey mustard sauce on the side.

Notes

For an extra flavor kick, marinate the chicken in honey mustard sauce before cooking. This dish is customizable; skip mushrooms if necessary.
